Development of domestic special ceramics

China’s special ceramics started in the 1950s and 1960s to support “two bombs and one satellite”. After more than 40 years, functional ceramics has formed an industry, mainly producing ceramic substrates, ceramic capacitors, ceramic filters, piezoelectric ceramics, sensitive ceramics, magnetic ceramics and insulating ceramics. Structural ceramics started late. After 20 years of struggle, it has preliminarily realized industrialization.

China’s special ceramics market has huge demand, rapid development and broad market prospects. In 1995, the sales volume of special ceramic products was 8 billion yuan (about 1 billion US dollars), of which electronic ceramics accounted for about 70%, about 5.6 billion yuan; Structural ceramics accounted for 30%, about 2.4 billion yuan. It is equivalent to 1 / 9 of Japan and 1 / 5 of the United States, and the market scale of Europe. By 2000, the output value of special ceramic products will reach 11 billion yuan, 30 billion yuan in 2010 and 45 billion yuan in 2015.

The research and production of special ceramics in China have made great progress in the past 20 years, but they are still far from developed countries in practical application, production level and industrialization degree. With the efforts of scientific and technological personnel and enterprises, coupled with the introduction of foreign capital, China’s special ceramic market has been growing. At present, the industry is characterized by the majority of private and foreign-funded enterprises. It is reported that in 2001, there were 273 units engaged in scientific research and production of special ceramics in China, including 23 universities, 31 research institutes and 219 enterprises. Most of these enterprises produce functional and structural ceramics. At present, China can produce most special ceramics, and some theoretical research still occupies a leading position in the world. Some ordinary electronic and structural ceramics such as integrated circuit substrate, electric porcelain, textile porcelain and kiln furniture can be produced in large quantities. However, China still relies on imports of many electronic ceramic components. In recent years, China has taken special ceramics as a key point in the development of high-tech industry, and the state has increased investment in foundation, application foundation and industrialization.

The market demand for special ceramics in China is huge

(1) Functional ceramics: high thermal conductivity aluminum nitride ceramic substrate, low dielectric constant ceramic substrate, ceramic capacitor, ceramic material for sensitive ceramics, ceramic optical fiber, connector, microwave dielectric ceramic material, etc.

(2) Structural ceramics: ceramic cutting tools, ceramic bearings, ceramic sealing rings and ceramic spark plugs required by the machinery industry; Alumina needed by building materials industry.

Grinding medium and lining, roller kiln ceramic roller bar; The petrochemical industry needs wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant ceramic parts such as ball valve and cylinder liner.

(3) Special ceramic materials needed by national defense industry.

(4) Eco-environmental ceramic materials needed for environmental protection.

(5) Biomedical ceramic materials.

Electronic ceramic materials are mostly concentrated in Beijing, Guangdong, Fujian, Hubei, Wuhan and the Yangtze River Delta

Guangdong is mostly concentrated in Foshan, Shenzhen, Dongguan, Huizhou and other places, has formed an industrial cluster of electronic components, and the industrial supporting system is relatively perfect; Qingyuan, Heyuan, Sanshui, Gaoyao and other new ceramic production bases in Guangdong Province have basically completed the first round of investment planning. Some later planned ceramic industrial parks in Zhaoqing, such as Sihui, Guangning, Deqing and so on.

Hangzhou, Jiaxing, Huzhou and other places in Zhejiang have concentrated manufacturing bases of ferroelectric crystals, optical fibers, piezoelectric ceramics, fluorescent materials and so on.

Beijing leads the country in integrated circuit chips and ferrite.

Sichuan has formed industrialization in rare earth functional ceramic materials.

SWOT analysis of China’s special ceramics market

Opportunity: special pottery has huge market demand and broad prospects.

Advantages: tetao has abundant natural resources and good supply; Strong scientific research force, many scientific and technological achievements and high level, no less than Japan and the United States; With an industrial foundation, a number of large-scale enterprises have emerged.

Disadvantages: special ceramic materials, especially structural ceramics, have large technical problems, high cost, low reliability and strong repeatability, resulting in narrow application areas; The industrialization of technological achievements needs to be strengthened, and the large-scale production technology and process equipment are relatively backward, which is in urgent need of transformation; Investment in technology development is still insufficient.

Challenge: developed countries participate in China’s market competition.
